Docs

The essentials to get going. Full guides are on the way.

Getting started

  1. Add Sharefrost from the Chrome Web Store and pin it from the puzzle menu.
  2. Open the page you plan to share and press Alt+Shift+S (Mac ⌥⇧S). Emails, phone numbers, card numbers, IBANs, SSNs, API keys and IP addresses are hidden.
  3. Press Alt+Shift+C to run the pre-flight check. It tells you what is still visible and fixes it in one click.
  4. Share your tab or window. Press Alt+Shift+S again when you're done.

Hiding styles

Personal details are covered with a solid bar (redact) by default, because light blur on short text can sometimes be reversed. Blur, pixelate and hide are available for larger areas.

Permissions

Sharefrost installs with no access to any website. Access is requested one site at a time, only when you save a rule for it.

PermissionWhy
activeTabLets Sharefrost work on the current tab when you press the shortcut or click the icon.
scriptingRuns the hiding engine in the tab you chose, and on sites where you saved rules.
storage, unlimitedStorageKeeps your rules and settings on your device, without silently dropping rules when storage fills up.
commandsProvides the keyboard shortcuts.
sidePanelShows rules, templates and settings next to the page.
alarmsChecks for updated team rule sets every 15 minutes. Shows no install warning.
Optional site accessAsked per site when you save a rule, so rules apply before the page paints.

Managed deployment

Admins can force-install Sharefrost and set policy through chrome.storage.managed: workspaceId, lockTeamRules, disableUnarm, forceRedactPII and apiBase. A step-by-step guide for Google Admin and Intune is coming.
