Privacy policy

The short version

• Everything Sharefrost reads on a web page stays in your browser.
• We don't run analytics or error tracking, in the extension or on this website.
• You can use Sharefrost without an account. An account is only needed to buy Pro or join a team.
• We don't sell your data and we don't use it for advertising.

What stays on your device

Everything Sharefrost reads on a web page stays in your browser: the text, the page address, and anything it detects, such as email addresses or card numbers. Your personal rules and settings are stored in your browser too. If you turn on Chrome sync, Chrome may sync a few small preferences through your Google account.

What we collect

• If you create an account: your email address and name, so you can sign in and join a team.
• If you're on a team: your workspace, your role, and the hiding rules your admin publishes. Admins can see an activity log of rule and member changes. It never contains page content.
• If you buy a plan: Paddle, our reseller and merchant of record, handles payment. We receive your plan, number of seats and subscription status. We never see your card. Pro is attached to your Sharefrost account, so the checkout page passes your account ID (a random ID, not your email) and the plan you chose to Paddle with your purchase. That is how your license finds your account. The extension then fetches it with your own sign-in, and this website never holds a license or key.
• If you give feedback after uninstalling: the extension version, your plan name, the reason you click and, if you choose to write one, your comment. Nothing else is sent: no page address, no browsing data, no cookies. If you close the page, nothing is sent.
• Optional: if you allow it, the website's main domain (like hubspot.com) so we can suggest a ready-made template. Off by default.

What this website does

This website is static. It sets no cookies, loads no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts, and uses fonts we host ourselves. Like any web server, ours may keep short-lived technical logs (such as the time and the page requested) to keep the service running and secure. We don't use them to profile visitors. The checkout page loads Paddle's checkout from Paddle's servers, and only that page.

What we don't do

We don't sell your data. We don't use it for advertising. We don't build profiles. We don't read your browsing history.

Who helps us

• Appwrite, running on servers we operate ourselves at Contabo in Germany: sign-in, team rule sets, seats and the activity log.
• Paddle: payments, invoices, sales tax and VAT.
• An email provider for sign-in links and invites.

Each processes data only to provide its service to us. We use no analytics or error-reporting service.

How long we keep it

Account data stays until you delete your account, and we erase it within 30 days. Team activity logs are kept for 1 year. Billing records are kept as long as tax law requires. Uninstall feedback is kept for 13 months.

Your choices and rights

You can use Sharefrost without an account. You can export or delete your rules at any time. You can ask us for a copy of your data, or to correct or delete it, by emailing privacy@sharefrost.com. If you're in the EU or UK you can also complain to your data protection authority. If your organization manages Sharefrost for you, your admin controls team rules and may have locked some settings.

Permissions

Sharefrost installs with no access to any website. It asks for access to a site only when you save a rule for it, one site at a time. The full list of permissions and why each one is needed is in the docs.

Children

Sharefrost is a workplace tool and is not directed at children under 16.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the extension before the change takes effect.
